Warehouse Project Experience

whp

I have been to the Warehouse Project in Manchester on numerous ocassions but this is the first time that I have ever wrote about it. The night I am talking about was the Opening saturday night in September. The Warehouse Project has been going for many years now starting back at the old Boddingtons brewery near Strangeways. The atmosphere has change somewhat since then and is now more commercial but nevertheless this is a great place to enjoy a night with some of the best DJs from around the world playing here.

I have been to see David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia here at the project, they have since rose to the top of the charts and getting them  to play to 3000 people must now not be financially viable. I paid a reasonable £25.50 for my ticket on the opening saturday but touts outside were charging £50-£60 which I thought was reasonable considering the demand and the lineup.

Ok, so its cold outside but this all changes as soon as you walk through the doors. By the end of the night you will be sweating with the heat inside, not because of the central heating system but because of the sheer number of people in such a small space.

The notion of time also passes one by without difficulty, by the time you leave it is close to 4-5pm and as its winter the nights are still dark and cold.

The line up I went to see along with over 3000 other hardcore ravers was:

NICOLAS JAAR — LIVE
SETH TROXLER
MAYA JANE COLES & HEIDI B2B
MACEO PLEX
FOUR TET — DJ SET
BEN KLOCK
JULIO BASHMORE
SCUBA
JOY ORBISON & JACKMASTER B2B
JACQUES GREENE
ANDREW WEATHERALL
SOUL CLAP
JUSTIN ROBERTSON
BICEP
KRYSKO & GREG LORD

Drinks are not the cheapest inside but  are no way crazy  and considering I lived in London for over a year I find them actually quite reasonable. The queues  can be quite bad but over the course of the night they tend to quiten down.

So I cannot really remember much of the night but leaving with £10 having arrived with £100 and slightly worse for where I think I did have a good night.
