Back to The Marvellous City – Rio de Janeiro

Last year we travelled to Brazil for the Football World Cup,  those who read my previous posts will know that we had a truly amazing time. We are already planning our return to not only Rio de Janeiro but to other places in Brazil next year.

2016 is the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, arguably the biggest sporting event in the world, bigger than the Super Bowl and World Cup Final. Millions of people will travel to this fantastic city to watch the athletes try to win the prestigious gold medals.

Travelling to Brazil has never been easier with TAM airlines offering flights from all around the world to Rio and Sao Paulo. Direct flights from London Heathrow make this long-journey be very comfortable and enjoyable. We will probably book flights at the start of the year.

Rio De Janeiro is a great city and one we thoroughly enjoyed, it is not know as the marvellous city for nothing. The weather is great, the beaches fantastic and people are passionate and friendly. We expect every event in which Brazilians are competing to be sold-out and the atmosphere to be immense.

Three years ago we were fortunate to have the Olympics in our own capital city, London and only 18 months we travelled to Sochi for the Winter Olympics. The olympics are like no other event we travel to, the fans, the passion and the common love for the sport that they are watching.

Whilst we have already applied for tickets to the opening and closing ceremony, we are highly doubtful of getting these high demand tickets. We are also in the Ballot for the athletics finals during the second week and some swimming tickets on several days.

Even if we don’t win tickets to the main days we are sure to be able to enjoy the atmosphere and watch the sports on the large screens on the Copacabana beach.
